Beyond The Mist by leigh-thebault Beyond The Mist by leigh-thebault
The second part in the 'Beyond The...' series

Tools of the trade

Programs - Terragen 0.92, Photoshop CS, Corel Drawer
Music - Metallica : Garage Inc. Disc 2
Beverage of Choice - Bacardi and Coke on the rox

Description

A spacescape using a combination of programs, mainly Terragen for the landscape and planet renders and Photoshop for the spacescape detail to planets and sea and sky where my partner in crime bratzer used an array of brushes to create the smog effect and turn the piece into night time and clean up the render. There is no 3d modellng in this piece as i thought it would ruin the overall scenery unless was done to perfection. Im really happy with the outcome of this one.

Time in Terragen - 5 hours
Time in Photoshop - 3 hours

this is really cool, i love the clouds and mist, i especially like the big masts shotting those beams into space(but one goes behind a planet :?), the only big thing i dont understand is the light source, because 2 of the planets seem to have a dual source whilst the other 2 are only lit from the right :?

Your sci-fi work is extraordinary. This one and Icarus are amazing, and I really admire them. I tried to do sci-fi and failed miserably!

Keep it up!

Wow! The first thing that caught my eye was the water. It is beautiful, with the mist over it, but you can still tell it is water since you left it a little watery at the front. Next is the sky or the atmosphere sky, which came out very nicely, you can really tell the atmosphere from the areas of space. And then the planets, OMG how beautiful! All in all a great job!

Very cool! One thing came to mind when looking at this was are those planets all going to collide? They all seem to be taking up the same space.

This oic is breath-taking. The water seems to be kinda low in quality though. The planets aren't lacking in any detail and the textures are fantabulous!
